Park Estates lives up to its name with residents enjoying access to plenty of public parks. There is a small park located within the neighborhood and the larger
Whitley Park and
Marina Vista Park are just outside. Whitley Park covers 13.5 acres next to the CSULB campus with sports fields and courts, a roller hockey practice court, and children’s play equipment. 18.2-acre Marina Vista Park is adjacent to Marine Stadium on the waterfront. Facilities at Marina Vista Park include a softball diamond, two soccer fields, and tennis courts.
Marine Stadium was built for the rowing events during the 1932 Summer Olympics and remains one of the world’s premier watersports venues. A sand beach covers Marine Stadium’s waterfront. Events held here include the Southern California Speedboat Club’s annual
Long Beach Sprint Nationals. Other waterfront attractions on Alamitos Bay include
Alamitos Bay Beach.
Alamitos Bay Marina recently benefited from a $105 million renovation, which replaced all of its docks and 1,624 boat slips. The
California State University Long Beach (CSULB) campus is right next to Park Estates. The campus is the third-largest in California and its 323-acre grounds feature a large athletics center, the picturesque
Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden,
the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, and the iconic
Walter Pyramid sports complex, where the Long Beach State 49ers basketball and volleyball teams play their home games. Park Estates is also close to several golf courses. The majestic 18-hole greens of
